In the 2013 Nature’s Best – Windland Smith Rice International Awards, my photo of the three badgers under the night sky was “Highly Honored” in the Mammals category. The exhibition of the winning images and a selection of highly honored images will be on display in the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington DC in 2014.
The category winners can already been seen here.
Together with five other photographers, I contribute to a photo-exhibition dedicated to the Red Deer: “Cerf”.
The Eurasian Beaver (Castor fiber) is the largest rodent of Europe. It was hunted down to near-extinction at the end of the 19th century. Reintroduced in Belgium in the late 1990´s, the beavers are now populating most of the regions around the large rivers, re-transforming many valleys into wetlands filled with new biodiversity.
Canon EOS 1D X, EF 600mm f4 L IS II USM + 1.4x, ISO 1600, in-camera multi-exposure.
On 23rd June 2013, the winning photos of the contest will be presented to the public in La Reid (B).
The members of the jury will also present their photographic work in their respective exhibitions during this event.
